We would like to thank our “Hutschn ambassadors” Antje and Toni Grassl from the Berchtesgaden Outdoor Club, who personally handed over our donated HUTSCHN as part of an expedition to the Shanti-Leprosy Aid kindergarten in Kathmandu.
Be able to swing, be free and be a child at ease? What is usually a matter of course for us in Europe is a privilege and a big exception in Nepal: to be able to grow up in a kindergarten sheltered and well-maintained. Many children have to help with field work or at home at a very early age; they are often also used as cheap labor in factories. At Shanti, all children can be children and play until they are ready for school at the age of 6 or 7.
But even then, the school inspired by Waldorf education places great emphasis on learning through play. Children receive medical care at the Hape-Kerkeling Clinic.
Shanti has two kindergartens: one in the ward in Kathmandu-Tilganga, and one in Budhanilkhanta. Twelve children are lovingly cared for there from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the mothers go to work or get involved in one of the employment programs.
As part of the Hutschnteam, we have decided to increasingly support such projects from now on. More about that soon.
