You can hardly find a more beautiful spot in Chiemgau, and not only the citizens of Schlechingen are convinced of this when they talk lovingly about “their” pranks. Pilgrims, mountain hikers, tour visitors and art lovers also share this opinion, because for generations, the mountain inn with the Streichenkirche has been an idyllic place of longing and is considered a landmark of the mountaineering village of Schleching and the entire Achen Valley.
A new chapter in its eventful history is now beginning for this traditional ensemble: Thanks to strong civic commitment supported by Kulturerbe Bayern, the Yvonne & Thomas Wilde Family Foundation and the Preichenfreunde Initiative, which had campaigned to preserve the property as an inn, the common goal can now be implemented: to continue the historic ensemble in the spirit of the former Streichenwirt and return it as soon as possible for everyone who likes to visit this place invigorate.
In the middle of the picturesque Achen Valley, a project is being developed that combines nature, culture and community: a new hiking trail equipped with our unique swings. The project is being implemented by the Yvonne & Thomas Wilde Family Foundation, which has been committed to art, culture, education and the preservation of the idea of home since its founding in 2018.
The commitment to Berggasthof Streichen would be without Bavarian cultural heritage unimaginable. This civil law foundation is also committed to the protection of historical buildings and monuments, the protection of nature and the landscape and the promotion of volunteer work. The Munich-based foundation was already able to find a partner in 2021 to acquire Berggasthof Streichen together with the Wilde Family Foundation. Commitment to trusting cooperation: Thomas C. Wilde was elected to the Board of Trustees of Kultur Erbe Bayern in 2024.
The family foundation aims to leave traces for future generations and to promote civic engagement. At the heart of her work is the careful restoration of historic places such as Berggasthof Streichen and Faschingwiese — places that tell stories and bring people together. The planned hiking trail leads through the idyllic carnival meadow and creates a direct connection between the B307 federal road and the Streicher Church, a cultural pearl in Achental. The route, which takes around 45 minutes to walk, is particularly aimed at families and nature enthusiasts.
Along the way, our huts will be installed as special accents. They not only invite hikers to linger, but also symbolize the foundation's values: encounter, balance and pause in the moment.
The Achental stands for a unique combination of nature, tradition and modernity. Through projects such as this hiking trail, the Yvonne & Thomas Wilde Family Foundation shows how civic engagement can preserve tradition and at the same time shape it in a future-oriented way. The hiking trail will not only be an access to nature, but also a meeting place for people who want to experience the beauty of the region.
The hiking trail with the Hutschn is part of a larger vision: to strengthen the Achental as a lively cultural area and at the same time assume responsibility for ecological and historic preservation. The collaboration with experts, such as landscape architects and preservationists, shows how important a well-thought-out and sustainable concept is to the Foundation. This project shows how tradition and innovation can go hand in hand. At Hutschn, we are proud to be part of this vision with our swings and to contribute to creating places of encounter and inspiration. We are looking forward to the opening in early summer and the first visitors who can enjoy nature and our swings to the fullest!
