Swinging is healthy!

swings for health

We are of course very pleased that our HUTSCHN has become a cover model. But what does that have to do with health and swinging?

All over the world — across all cultures: People like to swing, and not without reason.

Whether in a bag hung on the saddle with the Plains Indians of North America, on their mother's knees in Afghanistan or in a cradle in Western cultures — gentle rocking has been soothing children all over the world and has been doing so for thousands of years.

The rocking movement

The balance center in the ear is pleasantly stimulated by the steady, gentle movement and this has effects on the entire body. In a swing, even slight weight shifts repeatedly affect different muscles and the spine maintains its natural curvature. At the same time, the upper body remains erect and breathing is much easier. This in turn improves oxygen supply and blood circulation in the body — increasing concentration and ability to learn.

Swinging has an effect on the brain

Swinging also has an effect on our brain: endorphins are released, which not only make you happy, but also reduce the sensation of pain. The pulse slows down, the stress decreases and it is easier to calm down — no wonder that children fall asleep better when cradling and adults quickly regain strength in a hammock, a rocking chair or, of course, a HUTSCHN. Many of us associate the time of childhood with swinging, when worries and duties barely existed and people lived carefree into the day. This is so memorable that it still immediately relaxes many people today when they simply dangle their legs like a child in a suitable place.

In old age, swings can once again take on an important function. Scientific research suggests that it can noticeably alleviate the symptoms of dementia. For example, the Institute for Innovations in Health Care and Applied Nursing Research (IGAP) reports on an American study on the page www.igap.de. As the swing time increased, depression and anxiety among affected patients declined, and medications for these symptoms could be significantly reduced. The people who liked to swing and strived for it of their own accord not only showed more balance, but also noticeable improvements in their balance, the risk of falling significantly reduced.

More reasons

In addition to relaxation, however, there are numerous other reasons why we should swing much more often. Because swinging not only makes you happy, it also keeps you healthy and fit.

Swinging burns calories

The swing does not move by itself, but is driven solely by your muscle strength. As a result, we not only have fun swinging, but also burn calories.

Swinging is good for the body

The calories burned are no accident. After all, you're moving in an unusual way. On the one hand, this strengthens your muscles, but also your tendons and ligaments benefit from the rocking session and are gently trained and strengthened.

Swings for the mind

As mentioned at the beginning, swings simply make you happy. Anyone who has the courage to act like a child from time to time will notice that they feel balanced, happy and satisfied after swinging. The fact that this activity also takes place in fresh air has an additional positive effect. Because exercise in nature provides the body with plenty of oxygen, which awakens the spirits and motivates them to do more.

Train, it's easy

Exercising is a real challenge for many people. Swinging trains without having to pull yourself together, need special clothing or even have to pay for it. If you are one of these sports grouches, be sure to try out swinging for yourself and swing while sitting or standing or try out other swing styles that noticeably train specific muscle groups. Apart from that, you can also do excellent exercises with a HUTSCHN that you know from the area of sling training. More about this coming soon!
